Yearbook and Graphic Art
Every piece on this page was created by a student working through the EmotionImaging curriculum — not a demo project or an idealized example, but real classroom work. Each entry pairs the finished piece with the lesson it came from, so you can see not just the result but the thinking behind it: the observational skills, technical concepts, and creative decisions each project was designed to build. Together, they offer a window into how students grow as visual thinker one project at a time.

Basic Shapes – Understanding Light And Shadow
Students drew three-dimensional geometric forms from direct observation using a still life setup. Still life drawing is a foundational academic exercise that trains artists to see form accurately and understand how light and shadow create the illusion of volume. Through careful observation and shading, students learned how light behaves on different surfaces, allowing their drawings to appear more realistic and three-dimensional.

Newsletter #1
We will continue working on the SSI Newsletter this week. Please brainstorm ideas with your partner and begin designing your assigned sections.
Keep in mind that partners will receive the same grade based on the quality of both the ideas and the design. While you may use the template as a reference, you are expected to make significant design changes.
Timeline
I have completed grading the Timeline project. Some projects are still incomplete, with common issues including missing photos, insufficient written information, or a lack of attention to design quality.
If you are not satisfied with your current grade, please make the necessary improvements and resubmit your project by Monday. I will then update your grade accordingly.

Creating an CD Cover That Reflects Contents
Students will redesign a CD cover (album, soundtrack, video game OST, movie/TV soundtrack, or series compilation). The new cover must be highly original, yet still stay true to the original work’s style, identity, values, themes, and emotional tone. Students will analyze existing visual language and reimagine it with creativity and insight.

Dream Home – Architectural Drawing and Rendering
This lesson empowered students to create and illustrate their dream homes. They engaged in a systematic drawing process to conceptualize and depict their ideal houses. The class will explore the intricacies of two-point perspective drawing, employing a horizon line and two vanishing points for a more realistic portrayal. Following the architectural sketches, students used various mediums, such as pencil crayons, markers, or paint, to bring life and vibrancy to their designs.

Self-Discovery Profile Illustration
This project entails a mixture of illustration, graphic design and typography. Students illustrated a Self-Discovery Profile Illustration that presents their deepest inner most thoughts and desires. They gained self-awareness through introspective questions and considered what kinds of imagery to incorporate into their artwork.

Endangered Species Poster
In this lesson, students will create a hand-drawn Endangered Species Poster featuring an animal that is currently at risk of extinction. Building on the techniques learned in Drawing Animals on Colored Paper, students will combine realistic animal illustration, color theory, and graphic design to communicate information visually.
This project teaches students that art can be both expressive and informative, and that visual design can be used to raise awareness and inspire care for the natural world. By drawing an endangered animal and sharing its story, you are helping others notice, care, and remember. When art and knowledge come together, awareness begins—and awareness can lead to change.

Fruit Still Life Painting
In this lesson, students explored the basics of still life painting using fruits as their subject. Still life is a classic practice in art that helps build strong observation skills and teaches students how to translate what they see into paint. Through this process, students begin to discover their own unique way of interpreting the world around them.

Industrial Design – Product Design on Toned Paper
Students applied their understanding of tones and highlights to render products in a visually captivating manner. By exploring this project, students developed skills in product illustration while deepening their understanding of light and shadow dynamics.

Graphic Design – Rebranding a Logo Design
In this project, students took a brand they admired and reimagined its logo. They explored what the brand stands for, study its story, and redesign it in a way that feels fresh and meaningful. Like professional designers, they went through each step of the creative process—researching, sketching, refining, and presenting your final work. This is a chance to blend strategy with imagination.
