Rough Sketches: Sketch 3 to 5 rough concept designs for your Christmas ornaments. Don't overthink your ideas; simply let your creativity flow.
Select Two Ideas: Choose two of your favorite sketches and develop them further, refining the details.
Inking: Finalize your designs by inking them with black permanent markers. Erase any unwanted pencil lines.
Coloring: Color your designs using markers or colored pencils. Try to limit each ornament design to 3 to 5 colors.
Prepare the Materials: Gather the necessary materials, including an ornament base and the polymer clay colors needed for your design.
Sculpt the Base: Remove the cap from your ornament and wrap the base with clay. Roll it in your palms until it is smooth and even.
Sculpt the Design: Sculpt the details of your design using your fingers and various sculpting tools. Attach each part to your ornament carefully, ensuring that the material adheres properly and considering the drying time.
Hang Dry: Reattach the cap to your ornament and hang it to dry for at least 3 hours.
Display and Share: Share your completed ornaments with the class, discussing the design choices and techniques used.
This lesson encourages creativity, patience, and attention to detail, providing students with a comprehensive art-making experience that celebrates the festive spirit of Christmas.
